Where does the time go?

One minute, you’re waking up in the morning to work on your novel, creating the world, developing the characters, plugging the plot holes and simply having fun being a storyteller, when suddenly the next thing you know the day is over, and it’s time for bed and rest.

It often feels like you don’t have enough time, even if you spend all day working on your novel, it’s never enough.

Anyone else feel this way?

So the new Star Wars is out…

And has been, since halfway through december. I’ve been a fan of Star Wars since I’ve first watched it as a kid and it is one of many series that I use as an example on how to build a proper world.

We are plunged into a world where there is a war going on between two sides, in order to overthrow our world’s evil galactic overlords a rebel alliance was formed but are losing the fight. That is the story in a nutshell, then there is the “Force”, a mystical magical ability that the righteous guardians of the galaxy, the Jedi used. Then there is it’s evil counterpart the “Dark Side” and is used by the Sith, who are basically the opposite of the Jedi.

What’s unique about all this is that both the Dark Side and the Force are forgotten, nobody practises this ancient magic anymore, except the Emperor who rules as the world’s evil overlord, his right hand man Darth Vader and a little imp man known as Yoda who had mastered the power of the force but is now hiding somewhere in the galaxy.

THAT is quite unique and I love it, the fact that it is a forgotten art and is claimed to be obsolete or fake. Enter our main character, Luke Skywalker who finds out that his uncle is one of the only practitioners of the Force alongside Yoda.

Then there are all sorts of amazing creatures, aliens and yada yada yada, but that’s not its strongest suit, its strongest aspect was that its lore and history was set in stone and that we knew that, amazing things had happened and shaped the world. I sometimes feel like we need to be reminded of that, things happened in the past and the people have suffered, died and prevailed through it.

To think beyond our plot, delve into the history of our world, to create things outside our story, to create lives of the people who hardly interact with our characters, that is amazing and I don’t think it’s done nearly as often as it should.

But alas, I am broke and can’t afford the tickets to the new one… oh well…

A New Year, A New Beginning…

It’s a new year everybody! A brand new beginning, here is where the Journey begins. I foresee lots of red snowflakes and flying pigs, now with 2015 behind us we march towards 2016 optimistic and awesome!

Also, this is the year I release my YA fantasy series: The Tutorial. I hope you will all like it as I have carefully woven the story to be as entertaining as possible!

I hope 2015 was a good year for you and if it wasn’t I hope this next one will make up for it.

I will now quote the amazing Walt Disney in dedication of this new year.

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” –Walter Elias Disney

Cheers to me, cheers to you and cheers to 2016!

Hello World

I guess this is my first post… So I better make it a good one.

Suppose I should talk about myself, or maybe about my book, or my thoughts… What does one even talk about in a blog?

I’ll start with talking about myself.

I am Lucius Vonclair and I believe in flying pigs and red snow, that is to say, I believe in the impossible. I imagine the absurd and spin a tale around it. I am a storyteller and have always been one, recently I have decided to join the world of writers and the such in hopes of having my stories heard, so this is day one in my journey towards the masses.

I mentioned I am a soon-to-be writer, so yes, I am writing a book! I am not sure about the name but I am thinking of naming it “The Tutorial”, it’ll be a YA fantasy… High fantasy. This book will be about a girl who is blind and is given a magical mask that gives her sight, ever since that encounter she has been given a chance to explore both her own world and a new magical one, but can she tell which one is which?

Stay tuned and I’ll keep you updated on the progress!

Think, think, think… Am I being too formal? Oh well, I’ll probably loosen up as time goes by.
